Nader K. Rad: Minimalist project management with P3.express

Abstract

We usually try to cope with the difficulties of projects by making our project management systems more complicated. That makes it harder to use the system and even increases the difficulties. It usually works better to have a minimalist project management system and focus on the most essential aspects. P3.express is an open, non-proprietary system designed to be so.

In this presentation, we'll review the key problems in implementing project management systems and how a minimalist system such as P3.express can help. Then we'll have a quick overview of how the system works and introduce extra material (all open and free) that you can use to learn more about it and start using it in your projects.

About the speaker - Nader K. Rad

I started working with projects about 25 years ago: first, as a project planner in construction projects, and then I moved to large process-plant projects. In parallel, I was also involved in IT projects and startups.

I gradually moved from project planning into the wider project management domain by helping project managers and companies improve their project, program, and portfolio management systems.

Nowadays, I'm spending most of my time developing eLearning courses in our small company, Management Plaza, writing books (about 50 of them so far), and contributing to standards:

  • P3.express: Core development team
  • NUPP: Core development team
  • PMBOK® Guide 7th edition: core development team
  • PRINCE2® 6th edition: reviewer
  • PRINCE2 Agile® 1st edition: reviewer
